Grassroots Asia, a US 501(c)3 public charity, has once again offered their generous support for capital improvements to Hariharananda Vocational Training Center in Cuttack. Upgrades to existing computers and tailoring equipment as well as operating expenses were also provided in the grant. Grassroots Asia has been a consistent annual donor for the project since 2008. All of the young girls from rural Odisha that participate in the life skill and vocational training are deeply grateful for this life-changing opportunity.

Funds provided by Grassroots Asia insure that extremely impoverished families can provide their daughters with quality skill training, medical aid and education. The one-year course curriculum also includes field trips, special events and other life-enhancing experiences that would normally not be available to them. The students will see a sea beach for the first time, the great Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri, science museums and ancient temples. Certificates are given for all courses successfully completed, which helps them with job placement upon graduation.

Hariharananda Vocational Training Center stands out as a more comprehensive training opportunity, both in duration and in quality instruction. When vocational training is coupled with soft skills and interactive group exercises, mental health counseling and leadership training, the experience earns long term and sustainable results.
