Empowering Rural Girls: How Guru Krupa Foundation is enabling change through Grassroots India

Young girls from Odisha face many challenges such as reduced access to healthcare and education because of poverty and various cultural practices such as the state’s strict patriarchal system.

Supporting us in our efforts to transform the lives of disadvantaged girls in rural Odisha is the Guru Krupa Foundation (GKF).  Guru Krupa Foundation is a private foundation based in the State of New York.  The Foundation follows a holistic approach to charitable giving focusing on four broad categories: Social Welfare, Higher Education, Spirituality, Culture & Arts and the Environment.

GKF has been providing vital support, in the form of grants, enabling us to break the cycle of poverty for 15-20 girls every year since 2018.  GKF’s philosophy of providing equal opportunity and access resonates deeply with our mission.

This is why we are excited to announce the continuation of GKF’s support of the Hariharananda Vocational Training Center.  The residential training center accepts daughters from troubled or low-income families in rural Odisha villages between the ages of 17 and 28.  This year’s funding will allow us to provide students experiences of self-discovery, creative self-expression, vocational and life skills.  Students will also participate in self-governance activities such as House Meetings, Cleaning & Cooking Schedules, Policies & Procedures, Class Schedules, and Social Services.

We are so thankful for GKF’s unwavering support of our organization and our students!
