Dr. Nivedita Das-Honoring Her Life and Legacy

We remember with deep gratitude and sorrow the passing of Dr. Nivedita Das, long-term Director of Grassroots India, who served the organization with unwavering dedication from its founding in 2008 until her passing on April 20, 2025.

Dr. Das was a distinguished clinical psychologist, professional life skills and corporate trainer, and respected faculty member in human resources and organizational behavior. She earned her degree in Clinical Psychology with honors from the University of Delhi, completed her PhD at Utkal University, and was also a law graduate of the same university. A gold medalist in Psychology from Berhampur University, she was the recipient of both the National and All India Postgraduate Scholarships. She further completed advanced training in technology management through NIIT and served as visiting faculty at several management institutes, presenting research papers at national and international seminars.

Her intellectual curiosity spanned psychology, spiritual studies, and parapsychology. She authored several publications, including Empowering Destitute Women, a work inspired by her doctoral research and her deep involvement with Grassroots India’s mission.

Through her teaching, counseling, and research, Dr. Das brought compassion, clarity, and academic rigor to the organization’s programs for young women. She was not only a scholar and leader, but also a mentor, guide, and source of strength for countless students whose lives were transformed through her encouragement and belief in their potential.

Dr. Nivedita Das leaves behind a powerful legacy of service, empowerment, and hope. Her spirit lives on in the confident voices, educated minds, and resilient futures of the many young women she inspired.
