Grassroots Asia has donated funds for the Grassroots India medical and education fund in Odisha, India. Many farming families in rural Odisha have suffered from natural disasters over the years, leaving villagers without basic medical services or quality education. Girl children and widows are especially affected. The donation from Grassroots Asia will help support the WISH Network (Women’s Independent Self-Help), the Hariharananda Vocational Training Center in Cuttack, ambulance services, and educational scholarships for meritorious children.
The medical aid fund has provided life-saving surgeries, medicines, doctor fees, hospital charges and diagnostic testing for many patients in need. In addition to providing meals, transportation, housing and direct medical expenses, Grassroots India social workers link families with government resources and benefits.
The Grassroots India education fund assists with admission and exams fees at government ITIs and +2 and +3 colleges. College textbooks are also provided to selected students. Aid is given year to year so that the students’ performance can be re-evaluated.
A hearty thanks to Grassroots Asia for their consistent support to Odisha youth.
